Qube Manager arrives!!!!

I am the new Qube manager. I have read all your comments on the Qube, and now I open a forum in which this is your chance to have a say in what you would like to see as a nightclub in Doha.
This is a forum in which although I need to know good and bad points about the club, My aim is to know what the people truely want when they come to Qube nightclub on a night out.
So there you go, the forum is open.
I look forward to comments and suggestions
Steve.

Never been to Qube ...Never been to Qube Steve, as it has such a bad reputation in Doha. Hopefully you can turn this club around.
Too many ladies of the night (if you know what I mean) frequent the Club I believe. The original bar in the Ramada was their old hang out and now they have moved downstairs to the Club. I have heard many friends who have been there saying women come up behind them whispering prices at them, trying to tout for business.
This has to surely be the first problem to sort out - it has given the Qube a very bad reputation.
I understand it is the club with the largest floor area in Doha but the decor is not great nor is the Band!!!! What is Doha's problem with having bands in all their clubs and not just a few excellent DJs. Bands dont always work. Be different employ some great Djs like the Clubs in Dubai.
Sorry but I will not go to the Qube until I hear more positive reports about it - so the challenge is on Steve as I know many people in Doha feel the same.
Good Luck!!!!!!!!! Think you will need it.

Qube is packed of ...Qube is packed of prostitutes if that's what you're saying Alicat and Singers are not well dress to look descent. It's not a good scene in this society.
We went there for a disco and men are hassling us followed us all the way to where we park our car, because they think all women who goes there are all the same. Never again!!!
So if we want to have a good time we go to Garveys although the stage is small but for sure they screen people who go there.

i agree with all ...Tho me n my friends party hard, we dont plan to go to Qube.. the atmosphere is NOT good.. i`ll hv to agree with Kiara on the comment she posted, and sometimes if you are in a group of friends its not a good thingy... plus i believe Qube has a motive .. and a certain set of ppl are being targeted here ... atleast not us .. we dont mind paying the 30 bucks but then its just that we go once and we are like no its not happenin.. my friends were bugging me just few days a go (women) to go there .. and i was like no way if you want you can go have a look and call me if you like the place ... so i just waited for a minute or so and they just came back runnin .. they are like just GO! m like wot .. n they were like its like a Jungle out there ... i warned them .. but then being Crews no one already likes the place and when you say Qube to someone they are like NO WAYS ! but the only part i enjoyed was the Red Bull sponsored Joe metri and DJ Madjam event .. it was Fabulous !
Amazing place and amazing crowd .. we need such places ...out here .. i am sure the Qube can be the best place in doha for partying but some SERIOUS Changes needs to be done ! but hey if you are happy with some cheap people with cheap mentality entering the place and you are happy with 30 bucks a head ? i guess you are making business already ....

never been in cube, but heard much about it ...Hi, as I see from the comments above, now I can understand that why my boyfriend didn't want to go to Qube with me, because he tells me all the time, his only Qube experience was completely a disaster.
He told me that quality of the entertainment is low, also the customers:( sorry for that but I have just one night to go out and I do not want to be disturbed.
As I heard from one of my friends, when they first went to Qube they paid QAR 90 for entry and 2 free drinks. She says that she could't resist the atmosphere so she left her last drink back and went to Rydges, to Legends.
Here in Doha, I always go Paloma, cos I know food is good, and many people really enjoying themselves!!!(however it is so crowded)
Ramada has a big opportunity of being in the middle of city, on Salwa, that means tranportation is easy.
After a dinner at Salwa, I would like to go Qube for some drinK&dance, but after its new manager makes some revisions. I think Doha needs a club at city centre, with nice decoration, nice music, nice drinks and nice atmosphere.
I think Ramada deserves it...
Mystica said
Ninfea ...Where is Paloma? Is it another bar? it sounds good if the food are good and if they are crowded meaning they are popular place to go. Please let me know!

Qube is just more of the ...Qube is just more of the same thing. Skeezy dance bar full of prostitutes and desperate men. Music sucks, band sucks, decour is awful.
Would it kill a hotel in this town to open a pub. Like the Irish Village in Dubai??? If you want to be different and attract customers tear down the Qube and build something you can't find anywhere else in Doha.

by word of mouth: each floor ...by word of mouth: each floor has been self designated to specific nationality business women, if you get my drift.
no dj music, just boring stuff, like any drinking joint.
why dont you have themes for the evening, like have a disco night, or jive or trance and play the music accordingly. create the environment for such a theme. get a dj to play the music, who wants to dance to a live band.....i dont, also promote the club for the right reasons, a place for all to have a good time, not for specific people to flourish.

han 19 & kiarajane ...yes you are right han 19 but I didn't mean any club placed next to Starbucks or near Burgerking Playarea , I am talking about hotels and people use cars or taxis to go hotels, so you wouldn't see anyone outside with your dress.
I meant that if Qube becomes a good club, then it would be a wonderful city centre club(I didnt mean the shopping centre, I hope you didnt misunderstood it) by itself.
I am not longing for a different club at city centre, all my words were regarding to Ramada. I hope you got the idea, if you still think it is not a good idea, you should accept that there is a night club in city centre, worst of the city and named as Qube, already full of low income bachelors...
Paloma is in Intercontinental kiarajane, great tex-mex food ,wonderful scenery from terrace, a small dance floor, a rectangular bar full of people so you feel lucky if you get your drink before night ends:D

list of place ...for the new comers, and with my taste, here are a list of the main known place in Doha:
The pearl lounge /-a-t-/ Marriott hotel : personnaly, i like... but music's too loud! why do they need to make customer death?
The piano /-a-t-/ Movenpick : small and jazzy. Not too loud. Nice.
The Admiral /-a-t-/ Ritz : didn't go since 1,5 year.
Havana Club /-a-t-/ Ritz : great place
Paloma /-a-t-/ intercontinental : is that a restaurant, a bar or a club??? but nice.if you have luck to be served in less than 30 min.
Garvey's club : nice. mainly for UK expat
Aussie /-a-t-/ Rydges : my second home. Pitty the music is too loud after 11. but the only real pub in doha.
Sheraton: there is something there... Went there once...
Sherazade /-a-t-/ Ramada: was actually nice sometime.
Qube /-a-t-/ Ramada : well, never went. Will not stay long enough to see it changes.
did i forget one???
And sorry fellows, after 20 months here, i'll unfortunately leave to go to Vietnam.

This thread here is a prime ...This thread here is a prime candidate for off-topic comments (five in a row) that need looking at by an administrator. Qatari, where are you?
I've been checking up on this thread waiting for a response from Mr Qube Manager, just to see it sidetracked by some silly 'stop the backed up labourers from ogling' posts.
Anyways, Mr. Manager - The fact that Qube is packed with patrons (who are ringing in the cash register) means there's no need to change anything right now.
I don't prefer to spend time there around the mostly male clientele and a bunch of working women. But that's just me.
IMHO Doha just needs more clubs catering to varied tastes rather than few trying to please all.

Cube opinion ...This a thread was established by someone who has a personal agenda against the CUBE!
The real manager is real busy keeping that place running. Instead of worrying about some ghostly posting critiquing and formulating feces about prostitutes, excessive alcohol consumption and many other negative things.
He could have a customer survey form giving at the door for its customer to fill out later on.
If you really believe, that this thread is going to change anything, about the Cube and his Inhabitants thing again. Is not going to happen.
They are making enough money, to worry about some minor person or religious fanatic making his opinion to be heard.
Grow up people, the Cube is here to stay for a long time.
About the prostitutes, I think is the man acting under the influence of alcohol, hormone frenzy predators. Can't control their drive. Specially the other Arab nationalities acting like they are special.
Lets not forget that not every lady that goes and enjoys her self in the cube is NOT A PROSTITUTE! Unless you feel like that.

silently observing !!! ...do not fear I am still here...... I opened the forum to allow you to give input into the type of nightclub you would like to have here in Doha,it is interesting reading all your comments. Are these comments from people who wish to have valuable input into the development of a nightclub, or are they comments from people competiting against each other....????
The Qube is set to change, that is why they brought me, a nightclub manager of 14 years experience from England. These changes will not happen over night you will how ever slowly start to see some small changes introduced as we go along. For example' you will no longer be able to come to the club in sports wear, I personally feel that when someone comes to the club they must be dressed as if they are going out and not to the gym. you must allow me time to carry out my research etc it is no good me just imposing a nightclub on the clubbers of Doha without first finding what they want !!!
do we like RnB, dance etc?? This is the idea of the forum how often to you get to have a say in the development of a nightclub ??? do not use the forum to have a go at each other or make political statements, it must be constructive. I know there is a lot a of bad feeling about the club.
That is why I am here..... to give you a night club that you look forward to coming too.. and that there is a demand to get into the club..
My thoughts and ideas I will keep to myself until the time is right and the all will be clear...

Good!!! ...I hope you listen to all those people, who commented on your club!!! make it possible for couple to go to your place as well. so, It's not just me and my female friends want to go there because we know our husband will not put up with those desperate men to pick up girls to take home with them. Although we have our husband with us they don't respect that. I often get hassle and the guys don't seems to know or can tell the difference of a pick up girl to a descent wife. Our husband will just end up getting into fight with this type of men around your club.
I shall be looking forward for the changes in your premises!!!

Get DJ Prasadh!! ...There is an awesome DJ in Doha, his name is Prashadh and he is at Admirals on Thursday and Friday nights. I think you should talk to him, Admirals is always pumping so its clear that people in doha enjoy his mix.
on the bright side, the service at Qube is quite good. I love the fact that the waitresses come to the table and take orders.
that philippino band is a bit too much- there are too many people in it (you dont need so many backup dancers), the stuff they play is really really old and teeny-bopper, and their skimpy outfits only re-inforce the feeling that the whole place is just one big brothel.

Qube - Steve ...Steve - I'm so pleased i found this post.
I went to Qube for the first time this weekend and was so disappointed.
I was disappointd because of the waste of so much potential. The space that Qube occupies is amazing! It really could be the best club in town.
Instead it is awful.
Where I think you go wrong
- Live bands - A terrible call. The other bar in the ramada can have the live bands. That is the ramada prostitute bar. Don't bring second rate live bands into a nightclub. A good Dj is far more preferable
- Get a target audience - assuming that you want the bar to make money you have to find the most lucrative target audience and lure them in. Without a shadow of a doubt and whether or not you agree with their culture westerners will make a bar the most money because their culture is one of drinking to excess. Sorry but it is true. They are also among the most wealthy in this region. So this is the market you should be targetting. Simple economics no racism.
- Girls - girls bring guys. Fact. So make it fun and pleasant for girls. What do girls like ? Good music. Sometimes a little cheese (music term) but not a live filipino band with girls singing badly in hot pants. You may want to do the math on a tried and tested formula that works well in the middle east (jjs in Bahrain etc) and offer free drinks for women. You'd be surprised how little that costs you.
- Comfort - The non dancing space and the VIP space totally lack any kind of comfort. Think of the old leopard lounge in chelsea. I'm thinking big sofas arranged in squares. Conducive to talking and chilling (esp in VIP area) when not dancing
- Glamour - You need to improve your staff. It is a nightclub and the staff just aren't good enough. All the barstaff should be good looking (male and female) and funky. And the girls with the tequila bottles should be stunning and wearing hot pants, mid rift t shirts and cowboy hats. Ordinary is not why people go to night clubs
ONE thing that you shouldn't change - Dress code. Dress codes are for cheap places. Banning jeans is ridiculous in an age where jeans cost over $100 in many cases. All the most glamourous nightclubs I have been to in my life have no dress code. The clubs with dress codes include all those on Slough high street (a horrible town in UK). Don't be tempted. Wearing chinos and brown shoes does not make a club smarter and more funky than jeans and cool trainers
Please make a difference steve. Qube could be great but at the moment really really isn't

I was in last night, it was great to see you going around talking to everybody although you didn`t talk to my group. Maybe next time......

London DJ moving to Doha ...Hi Steve,
My family and I are moving out to Doha in the next 6-8 weeks.
My wife has been offered a job at Al jezeera and I have been trying to find out about the club scene over there.
I've been DJ'ing on the London scene for the last ten years and I'm a regular at Smartie Partie events /-a-t-/ Turnmills and a resident at London 'Calling' /-a-t-/ Thirteen. .
I play a mix of commercial dance and funky/Electro house.
If you are currently looking for DJ's I would be very interested in getting in touch with you.
Regards

well looked after ...Last night was a really good night for me and my friends. You could tell there was a new guy in town. there was, some changes to the music. There was some really good tracks played.
we were on the upper part of the club everybody was enjoying themselves, there was something different about the place there was more women and just really a better crowd of us up there. Maybe you should introduce some kind of membership just for that area...???
Mr qube manager !!!! you still didn`t come and say hello to us, I could see you were extremely busy, it looked like you was trying to talk to everybody in the club.
until next time. keep up the good work Mr Qube manager !!!

i hear its changing for the better already ...hey steve..
ive been in doha since september...my first outing was to Qube..and i must say it wasnt the best...its like going down a red light district...but the girls are not as discreet...the band are just awful...badly dressed...and anyway when you think of a niteclub you think of a d.j with a mix of the latest tunes...the qube has potential but you need to do a lot of work...went there unvoluntarily a few weeks ago...you came up and chatted and i think the ramada have found the right guy for the job...keep it going and we could see a total change in the club..rather than being the place not to be seen in ... it will be the place to be....good luck

after running clubnights and ...after running clubnights and festivals in the uk for 6 years, and working with many international bands on many continents i think i have a good idea of what makes a good club and a bad club.
examples of stuff i have run in the past
http://www.soxan.co.uk/
photos for above spanning 5 years and countless clubs (yes there is a picture of me (a guy) wearing a metalic green tafeta skirt): (http://www.getafixx....)
http://www.minichill...
I can come and discuss ideas with you one to one if you want, but i outline a few ideas below.
and im going to assume a couple of things at the outset
1) your setup (physicaly) is fixed, no major infrastructure is going to change
2)your staffing levels are not going to change
3)your door takings/throughput are fixed.
with those things in mind may i make the following suggestions
1)clientel - its pretty sleazy, hookers & men looking for hookers - get rid of them whatever your outcome - it attracts the wrong kind of clientel, and makes the right kind leave and never come back. no one likes a sweaty pawing man hitting on anything in a skirt. - have strict but cool bouncers that enforce your rules, your doorstaff are your first and last line of defence (dont go for the minimum wage guys get some good guys from a good crew that dont take bribes).
2)band - please the coverband thing is so last stand at the ok corall - when did anyone ever think that a bad coverband was a good idea?
3)lighting/club colour scheme/feel - its way too bright in the club bring the lights way down, the industrial thing is ok - but at the moment it just feels like ikea without the soft furnishings, need to break it up alot, lots of little areas or rooms is a great idea, still have a dance floor, maybe two in the main downstairs area.
4)get a vj or two- those wight walls are calling out for a great set of visuals.
4)have to eccho the idea that chinos & ben sherman is a bad idea - dress to impress is a far better idea - just get radical with dress style - think 80s newyork, invent a style and go for it. - keep an eye out in the photos for cleaning ladies, lara croft, men in skirts, cowboys and indians, summer holidays etc, all of which was non enforced, our punters randomly turned up dressed up enmasse
5)DJs - for crying out loud there is a massive community of doha expatriates that would kill to see a decent dj - most go to dubai get them to stop off here as well, i can give you the cell numbers of over a dozen internationaly renowned DJs and dance acts that would be happy to come out. there is also enough untapped dj rescources in doha to get you going - i can give you 3 names here already that could put a night on and rock a party for 5 hours no problem - there must be more.

The Qube ...Hi Steve Welcome to Doha
I have been to the Qube a few times and I think what needs to be said has been.
I would add though that a dress code would be a major pain. It is used in the Pearl at the Mariott. Getting dressed up to dance to a decent DJ doesn't sit right. Please don't do it.
This place isn't some rough mining town up north, don't ban trainers or jeans.
I imagine by now that you have been to the Global DJs night at the Diplomat club, on a good night that is the thing you should be going for.
You may also have read some of the comments regarding young drunk kids at those parties, whilst partly true a strong but fair door policy on ID will solve that problem.
A Night with a decent DJ on the Thurs or Fri would be great. Having a DJ on all nights I imagine would not be in your clubs best interests as the Cover band does seem to be unfathomably popular.
One thing though people keep saying the place is full of hookers, thats not entirely true, although I believe there may be a perception that any group of girls that go out unaccompanied by males are hookers.
One fact you should know there are 1,500 FEMALE Qatar airways cabin crew. Free entry and drinks for these staff would go a LONG way to redressing the male female balance in the club.
Good luck

Get a decent DJ ...Get rid of the coverband on weekends, or early in the night, and get a decent DJ.
Apart from that I have been to Qube a few times and had a good time. You really have tot ake your own crowd with you though.

The Qube is fine ...At the end of the day western expatriates make up a very small number of the local population, most of which is made up of labourers from the sub-continent therefore the Qube caters to this. Its not terrible as someone said earlier brings some friends its a ball. Never seen any hookers there either, well not any girls that you would consider paying money for anyway !!. Ooohh harsh.
Heres to the old days of student bars, 1 pound a pint cider and no worries in the world except when and where you might get some action from !! Just like living in Qatar actually

the cube ...i was only joking. i will look forward to given it a go. it doesnt sound that bad. just depends what people are looking for. i dont think it can be any worse than going round your local town and what people get up to. £1.20 in my local pub for a bottle.

we didn`t see any super cool dudes with base ball hats on nor did we see any budding sports stars in their track suits
we love what you have done with the furniture!!!
Is it true you speak polish?? only i am polish and come from Jaworszna

You have a big task ahead of ...You have a big task ahead of you! Once a club has a bad name as you already know it is hard to change! It was said that all the 'ladies of the night' were not allowed in there and the first thing you notice when you walk in is them!
It is hard to know where to draw the line as how do you prove that they are or not? If that was surgested then you will be going down the Garveys line!
If anything if you managed to have a club that is the inbetween to Rydges and Paloma then you are on to a winner! The thought of a decent Irish bar seems to be popular with people at the moment and that is easy to do! Believe me i used to run an Irish Bar it is good fun for customers and Staff alike!!
Well good luck on your venture!

Qube Viewpoint ...I have been here 3 times and never again it is basically crap like every other abr in Doha apart from Garveys. Now they charge 90QR to get in even though you are with your wife which is not on if you want to for a pre dinner drink who cares if you get 2 drinks out of that still a rip off. During the week it is just guys and some guys dancing together like a gay bar............

how am I so out of touch in a town this size? ...Until I read this thread I didn't even know there was a third bar at the Ramada. And actually, until about half-way through I thought everyone was talking about the bar on the 2nd floor of the main hotel. Then I remembered the other night when a friend took a back route to avoid the Ramada Junction and there was this crowd of the young and the hip milling about. I had no idea what they were doing there. So now I'm assuming that is Qube. And I will go. And from the sounds of it, I will be disappointed, but hey, it's gotta be worth trying at least once.
But man-oh-man, this town really needs a decent listings website.

the cube ...I'm afraid I have been to the cube Streve and can confirm that previous comments are true. It is known as a local 'knocking shop' which if u are female can put you off going there. The decor isn't appealing and there is no atmosphere to speak of. One of my work mates said "it's like Jarir bookstore - but without the books". It has potential but your 'clientale' are spoiling it. Re-think your door policy is my advice.
