Clark Quay Singapore

Clarke Quay was named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Singapore's second Governor and Governor of the Straits Settlements from 1873 to 1875, who played a key role in positioning Singapore as the main port for the Malay states of Perak, Selangor and Sungei Ujong.

[img_assist|nid=24486|title=quay|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=54]

Clarke Quay is also the name of a road along the quay, part of which has since been converted into a pedestrian mall. Clarke Street, located next to Clarke Quay, was officially named in 1896, and was originally two streets known simply as East Street and West Street in north Kampong Malacca. Similar to Clarke Quay, Clarke Street have since been converted into a pedestrian mall.

Tsing Ma bridge , Hongkong

The Tsing Ma Bridge, which spans 1377m across the busy Ma Wan Channel, is the second longest bridge in the world after the Humber Bridge in Britain. However, it is the longest bridge that carries both motorway and railway.

When you visit Hongkong and booked the tour trip to Lantau Island, the bridge will one of the place / tourists spot that tour operator always visit. They will take you to the view point, and you will be give a short 10 mins to have a look around and taking some photos. Unfortunately when we were there, the weather was so bad and we can't see a thing.

Sungei Buloh Nature Park, Singapore

Sungei Buloh Nature Park is a mangroves and wetland wildlife refuge located at the northern end of Singapore, it was one of our favourite place to go during our past live in Singapore. Living in Singapore it was so hard going to places without bumping into 'tourists' lol.

[img_assist|nid=24479|title=sungei buloh|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=120]

The place a bit far to reach ... if you dont own private car you will have to take taxi or use a public bus.

I remembered the place used to have a cafe overlook the swamp ... you can have something to eat and drink while you watch the flamingo around the area.

star ferry, hongkong

This is a 'must do' with kiddies when you come to Hongkong. Star ferry is a passenger ferry, ferrying people commuting between Kowloon and Hongkong Island. Can't remember how much we paid ... i think just around 2 or 3 Hongkong Dollar per trip.

[img_assist|nid=23830|title=star ferry|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=135]

Again i would suggest you do the trip at least one during the day time and another during night time.

The Star Ferry operates on four routes: between Wanchai and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, Central and Hung Hom, and Hung Hom and Wanchai. Service times and ticket prices vary with the different routes (against it cost nothing).

Lamongan, East Java, Indonesia

I always passed this small town when i commuting from my hometown in Semarang (Central Java) to Surabaya (East Java) during my university days. I drove small suzuki katana up and down Semarang - Surabaya at least once every couple of months(350 kms). I visited this city as a part of my field study in my tourism diploma.

Raffles Hotel, Singapore

Declared a National Monument in 1987, the hotel has grown from strength to strength. With its restoration and reopening in 1991, Raffles Hotel today stands as a jewel in the crown of Singapore's hospitality industry, renowned and loved for its inimitable style and unsurpassed excellence in service and facilities.

[img_assist|nid=23718|title=main entrance|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=135]

In multicultural Singapore it is not surprising that the visionary founders of Raffles Hotel were a quartet of enterprising Armenian brothers: Martin, Tigran, Aviet and Arshak Sarkies.

Petra, Jordan

Petra is the treasure of ancient world, hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, boasting incomparable scenes that make it the most majestic and imposing ancient site still-standing nowadays.. It has been said "perhaps there is nothing in the world that resembles it", actually, for sure, there is nothing in the world that resembles it. The rock-carved rose-red city of Petra is full of mysterious charm, it was "designed to strike wonder into all who entered it".

Avenue Of The Stars, Hongkong.

[img_assist|nid=23129|title=film man|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=135]

This place is copying 'Hollywood Walk of Fame'. Instead of having western celebrities on the walk, they have a mandarin / chinese / oriental celebrities handprint doted on the walk.

My favourite stars Andy Lau, Jacky Chan, Chow Yun Fatt are all there.

Pura Ulun Danu Batur, Temple of The Crater Lake, Bali

This is Bali's second most important temple after Pura Besakih. It is the ceremonial throne for Dewi Danu, the goddess of the lake. There are dramatic, many-tiered, pagoda-like merus, often covered in mist from the lake. The goddess is honoured with a tall meru of eleven tiers, the highest number. The meru of her consort, the god of Mount Agung, has only nine. That indicates her importance.

[img_assist|nid=22583|title=ulun danu|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=135]

According to legend Dewi Danu and the god of Mount Agung emerged from an erupting volcano in 231 on balinese calendar. Together they took control of the waters and lands of Bali. They are the complementary male and female gods of the island.

Walking Tour in Lamma Island, Hongkong

Lying just a half-hour ferry ride from Central, Lamma – the third largest of Hong Kong's islands – offers a great escape from the city. There are no cars here and few buildings are over three storeys high. Trails meander along hills and coastline. There are fine bathing beaches and the island is home to some of the Hong Kong's most popular seafood restaurants.

[img_assist|nid=22480|title=The Lamma Island|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=180|height=135]

The walks normally started from Yung Shuei Wan to Sok Ku Kwan or you can do it the other way around.

The Famous Indonesian Becak

This vehicles now totally banned in Jakarta. The reason to reduce traffic congestion around the city.

[img_assist|nid=22289|title=becak|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=400|height=268]

I used to take this 'becak' during my younger days to get around my town 'Semarang'. Around 20 yrs ago ... it cost 500 rupiahs for around 3 kms distance. Which about 25 dirhams. lol

Becak also hated by the car's driver for its braveness against the car. If you had an accident with a becak, either your fault or abang becak's fault you still have to pay the damage to the abang becak.

You will see becak mostly around Java island ... their design will be vary from region to region. Mostly you can spot with the 'work of art' on its wheel.

Tuk tuk will be easily go through between traffic jam during Bangkok rush hours. You will expected to pay the least 20 baht, around 2 Qatari Riyal. More for longer distance.
