Hi all,...new to this site, and was wodering if anyone could tell me a rough guide to what I should expect as a salary in Doha as a teacher in an international school?
I am a native englihs man, with an MA in my specialist subject...can you help?..many thanks!

high salary ...If you are single and school is providing accomodation you must ask more then 12000 minimum.....its very very expensive living in Doha.. and achools are giving high salary and if school is not providing accomodation then 20k plus plus.....

I would agree ...Circa 20k per month all in sounds about right for a qualified teacher in one of the international schools. I would imagine it still compares favourably on a net basis against your income in the UK?

Doha Academy ...Is the WORST school in Qatar. It's the school where all the Qatari kids who can't get accepted into any other school go! It is awful, the children are hellions and the management is awful! It is not worth any amount of money to work there.

Im currently teaching in Thailand at the moment..........all is great except salary....so am considering move....any info would be great.....would you know what salary i should negotiate for as a married couple?

You should know that in Qatar, you would only be considered as a married couple if you were actually legally married, i.e. you couldn't ask for married couple allowances on the basis of bringing along a partner with whom you cohabit.
If you're not legally married, then your partner would need to get a job and work visa/residents permit in their own right. Or, alternatively, they could get a tourism visa, and keep making visa trips to one of the other Gulf states.

But your salary, that should be minimum 12K + decent living accommodations... that's really minimum.
If I were you and I was offered 18K + decent 2BR apartment + transport allowance, I'd be very satisfied.
Here is a tip, your nationality/race/ethnicity is an advantage in this country, take advantage of it. Bargain for the highest pay the school is willing to pay, trust me, they will accept almost any offer you demand for as long as it's not too unreasonable.

I'd be a bit worried if you were teaching my kids. For one you can't spell English and two if its a typo then you don't proof read!! I hope your CV application wasn't full of mistakes as well.....
