What's with the "Family Day"

Don't the Qatari's have other better ideas other than having the "Family Day" on a Friday? Most of the blue collar workers and other professionals are only off on either Friday or both Friday and Saturday and where else can they go especially when the weather is so hot out there. Dont the local authorities have a more humanitarian way of at least appreciating the presence of these group of people and think of the effects and consequences should this barren land would be without them.... I cant imagine Qatar without all this foreign workers and talents who actually build this desertland to what it is today. Despite the Family Day ruling to enter these places, I still see guys in the traditional white robes walking in without even being asked and i walking with my wife was not allowed to enter perhaps b'cos im an asian....isnt this an outright racism or are they just discriminating? Please share your views and experiences on this subject.
