Badminton Players Get together
All those badminton players who recently moved to Doha and couldnt find a decent place to get together and play with a decent group of people ( I mean come and play rather than come and wait in line for a chance to enter the court, besides putting up with all the politics to get into the only good court--maybe you knwo which place I am talking about ??), shoot a reply and we will form a group. I know a place where we can rent a court ( not expensive )and if we have enough people, we could make some friends and have an excellent evening of badminton too. I dont mean to be rude, but I would prefer to form a group of people who can play decently well, not beginners.

i've played once at Doha ...i've played once at Doha College or Khallege (?)...but not for "game" purpose just for play (to sweat/some cardio...running after the shuttlecock..:P)..but am interested same as GG, if time and place suits me..:)

I used to play a little bit (but not in club), but I like this sport and I'm not too bad, as I used to play volley-ball for almost 20 years and badminton needs speed and observation of the other player as well

well guys,I've played in ...well guys,I've played in Qatar Badminton Club this afternoon coz one of my friends dragged me there.It was fine but you only play one set and the rest follows in the same fashion.I've heard that if you are a newcomer to the place,you have to buy the shuttle from them plus QR 10 for the badminton social fee.
I really dunno how much do they sell the shuttlecocks.But the place is ok though it would have been better if the whole 3 sets will be played.
So what about it? Are you guys interested or what? Bcoz if you are,I would be going there this Saturday and if we could form a group enough for us to rent one court then it will be better for all of us.I'll try to inquire if its possible and Qatar Badminton Club is located near Qatar Decoration,just in case you want to know.
so let me know so I could proceed with the negotations if there will be one.

Qatar Badminton Centre... ...Visited this place last evening...sorry to say the plc is so poorly maintained....they have just two courts....one for members and one for outsiders....
they r not taking any forms for new comers as members anymore as their quota is full...the court for outsiders was packed last evening...n we just left after tht....
dissapointed guys....will have to take up playing tennis or squash if this does not work out....

Coolasice,have you asked around about the other possible venues? I guess if one of us has a friend in one of the compounds here maybe we kud ask them to secure a permission for us to play on their grounds/courts.If its a tennis court or a volleyball court we could convert it to badminton court,couldnt we?

Daisy8... ...I have a friend whose said he will check out the Al Ghazal Club which is for QP Staff and he's a member there too...
Members are allowed to take in only two guests and tht's another problem....besides i heard as usual this place tends to get crowded quite quickly....
I am also goin to the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex today to check the scene there....do these guys coach u to play Squash....cuz they have lots of coaches to train people for tennis....

Dear Buds.... ...Okie friends...i have dropped the plan....no plc where u can play some good badminton....
i had checked out a few places n most of them were in house sort of self made courts with lil space n roof open....
So i'm joining at the Khalifa tennis and Squash Complex n got myself registered there....they have a tennis school there with plenty of coaches who will make sure u're playin it right!!!
today is the first day....if any of u r interested let me know...cud help u guys out .......

Daisy8... ...The fees charged is QR 300 monthly for an hour of coaching every alternate day.
My classes are from 8.00pm to 9.00pm on Sun,Tue and Thu....
The timings are flexible and u cud arrange it with the coach according to your free time.
The first day was brilliant....really got me tired n sweating...will atleast help me loose some waistline...hehe

Badminton ...All the sporting facilities in Doha and such limited badminton places. Cryin shame! If anyone finds somewhere else, I'd be interested. Play at the Qatar Badminton at the mo. but it's miserable having to wait for the one court...saying that, had some brill mixed doubles with my girl friends. If only we could use the Aspire....

There is no rush and certainly no shouldering around eitha.

I am also a social and competition badminton player. I am about to move to Qatar and "yes" very sport active and so please let me know if you guys do play Badminton here so that i can pack my rackets with me.
