You are far too late to get ...You are far too late to get any schools for this September - waiting lists for British schools now 1to 2 years or more

No textbooks = No Curriculum ...Imagine a school without textbooks. Your child will have to memorize everything the teacher lectures in class. When it comes to history there is a problem. They hire from South Africa, New Zealand, Scotland, U.K., and the rest of the Common Wealth areas. The Montessori is misleading because non of the teachers have their certification from the Montessori schools. When your dealing with admissions, they are extremely rude.
The construction boom has completed so you might have a chance in September after school begins. Apply at D.E.S.S. or Doha College. The principal at good schools tend to question the parents before admitting your kids into the school.

Sorry but DESS and DC have ...Sorry but DESS and DC have the longest waiting lists as they are the most popular.
Your best bet is newton or sherborne

Doha British School ...I am a bit confused. DMBS (Doha British and Montessori School) now just calls itself DBS. The "M" has been dropped.
Medexpat, don't you know that the waiting lists for DESS and Doha College are very long? And even longer if you don't have a British passport? I know one parent who waited three years to get a place for her son at DESS.
I know several teachers at DBS and, from what I have heard from various sources, it is quite a good school. If I had a choice, I would send my child to DESS rather than DBS, but I don't have a child and most parents don't have much choice either.

Doha Montessori has changed ...Doha Montessori has changed it's name to DOha British School Montessori. I would say is not the best school in doha but is not a bad school either. You are lucky even to get a place there at the first place. To measure the popularity of the school is the waiting list, because every parent want to send their kids to the school. According DBS website, 2012-2013 Sept intake is already full and they do have long waiting list too. Take a tour to the school & judge for yourself. Ultimately , the final choice is yours.

Take your chances..... ...I know several kids who got accepted into DESS this year without being on the waiting list. What shocked me was 2 of them were from Canada and the parents were not native English speakers. The others were from U.K. The best time to show up would be right after January. You will be surprise as to how many go back home for Christmas and never come back. The worst time to get accepted into a school is in September.
Let's not worry about the name of the school. DBS does not have textbooks.

Medexpat sorry but you are wrong ...I have two children there, have been there for 18 months, they love it, are thriving - and I believe we are lucky to have the places - once the roadworks atround Sallwa are concluded, it will improve too. You choose whether to do the Montessori or not!

Hi, thanks for that. That is ...Hi, thanks for that. That is all very dissapointing.Maybe we need to reconsider our decision to move to Qatar. Can your employer have any influence in these things. Also what is the Sherbourne school?

Try asking the employers. ...Try asking the employers. Unlikely. The school term finishes in 2-3 weeks and they shut for the summer . Might be worth your husband coming out in September and you waiting until next year ie sept 2013 to bring the kids out . Hopefully by then you should have something.
Google sherborne school Qatar / they are your best bet/ the most expensive though

Doha British School Accreditation ...They lost - They don't have the accreditation they were running for as they are just a bunch of funny people there. My daughter was use to go there in Secondary - What A mess! Avoiding this school is my best advice!
