Here's an interesting one - Birth Photography.
There are now specialist photographers offering such services and demand is at an all time high. People want to chronicle a rite of passage that is no less significant than a wedding..
So, my question - would you consider this or have you done something similar? Is it not a private and personal thing ?

chota_sanki.. ...I must admit that I did not attend the birth of my children - but I doubt whether I would ever consider allowing a photographer to record the birth(s).
So, would you agree to it ? Does it really serve a purpose in the long run or is it just a fad ?

I also do not like to look at photographs memorizing such an occasion.

Good God ...NEVER! I wouldn't let my husband in when I was giving birth, let alone capturing the moment for others to see. No way. I know you get some of those "giving birth is one of the most beautiful moment" types, but I'm certainly not one of them.
But yeah I can imagine folks doing that. Bet some of them post the pics on FB too *shudders*

I was 10 years old and I went ...I was 10 years old and I went to visit a friend. Photographs came up and among them were pictures of her entering the world. No professional photographer was there, I guess the husband took them.
Well, the pictures didn't scar me for life, but they did look weird to me at that time. And no, I would certainly not prefer it in my case. Memories should suffice for some special moments. Dunno why nowadays a few people want to capture each and every moment in photos. I find it absurd.
And like Fathima mentioned, the photos might be misused. That's the problem in today's world, any info online is not even 20% safe or reliable.

limit of decency ...or decent exposure. Different people, different levels. What is thrilling to others is absurd to others, So let's give those people the thrill they want. It's their life, their rule.
If thee are people who could do sex publicly, why not this? If they can pose nude, why not this? There are more things to other may be bizarre but to some is a treasure.

weird. i thought it's pretty ...weird. i thought it's pretty common these days. when my first nephew was born back home the first thing the doctor asked is "where's the camera?" and it was a relatively strict hospital. they don't let fathers in the delivery room and they don't allow the babies out of the nursery until the moment they get to be discharged.
most of my friends who gave birth these past few years had their babies' pictures taken once they get out of the womb. they're mostly purple and so uncute yet but probably something worth putting on scrapbooks and school projects. or an answer to them when they grow up and ask where they came from, what they looked like. or if they're adopted/picked up on the streets/dropped by the stork/bought from the store. no one has to pay for them though. the nurses take the pics for the parents.

According to the article the ...According to the article the photographer is usually not allowed down near the doctor, and has to stay up near the mother's head. I really don't see what the big deal is.
