Children at sheesha

Children, aged probably 12 or younger, smokes sheesha right next to me in Aroob Tourist Cafe.
I spoke to the man, head of all the other employees, and he says that the manager has allowed it. He personally tells me that it's better profit for the manager and that he cannot do anything about it.
What can I really do about it? There are Qataris sitting in this cafe, there are other men at this cafe, and I'm horrified that nobody really cares that these kids are smoking up!
I had no one to tell, so I told you guys :(

They aren't tourists. The ...They aren't tourists. The cafe's just named tourist cafe... everybody here is a regular sheesha goer.. we see them everyday. These kids look speak arabic to each other... look Iranian.
I mean, no parent would actually allow their kids to do this. If they're here, its by their own will and its the cafe's responsibility to not serve them. I guess the manager just want profits.

Maybe they are just small ...Maybe they are just small men, I know my friend is 20 and he's like 160 cm with no facial hair or anything to show he's an adult. they could be 16, 17, 18 years old. I used to smoke at that age but now i stopped, there's nothing we can do about that.

Whilst we may think it's ...Whilst we may think it's wrong, it seems obvious that its part and parcel of the culture. Perhaps the parents know and don't discourage. A bit like the \French allowing wine for teens to get them slowly introduced..

Brit, wine , in proper ...Brit, wine , in proper quantity, is healthy.
Sheesha, no matter what, is NOT healthy, it is in fact worse than cigarettes.
I really do not think you can compare drinking a glass of wine , even for a kid, with smoking sheesha.

I've done my part of telling ...I've done my part of telling the employees not to serve them, I've told you guys and I've emailed the authorities around Qatar.
One can't push it aside as culture, as children are not allowed to purchase cigarettes at any local store in Qatar. The World Health Organisation has warned that a one-hour shisha session can be as harmful as smoking 100 cigarettes.
Apart from religious ban, a little bit of wine can actually be good for the body. It is not so with smoking the pipe!

memo, you need to invest time / cultivate relationship ...There is no quick fix solution, unless their real father / or even a responsible stranger just slap them on the cheeks.
Yes, In a long & slow process of about 90 days ... you befriend them, but NEVER tell them to stop smoking sheesha ...discuss other subjects, like games, cars, bikes, travelling & something of their interest etc etc.
Occasionally in a very very interesting manner mention that if they carry on smoking it will be difficult for them to make [ MORE ] babies later when they would marry & their wife won't be [ MUCH ] happy either !!! & similar stuff like that...
Then you need to carry on & carry on ... definitely you will find a way to lead them out of that cafe in few month's time... even without telling them to stop sheesha smoking....

Getawy, there is a great ...Getawy, there is a great difference between a 12 year old and an 18 year old.
A. The 12 year old is still growing, smoking can seriously hinder his growth.
B. A 12 year old does, in most cases, not have the capacity/experience to truly understand how damaging sheesha can be
c. A 12 year old puts more emphasis on being "cool" than anything else.
A. An 18 year old has finished his growth, although his organs can still be damaged by sheesha, at least they have grown to full capacity, and may have more power to defend themselves against the poison of the sheesah.
B. By now the 18 year old should have the understanding that what he does is damaging to his health
C. Peer pressure is till there, but may be overpowered by using his understanding of right and wrong.
Besides all that, it is illegal for underage kids to smoke sheesha, and from what I understand, to be supplied with it. Both parties are breaking the law.

Memoriesofdawn ...You are totally right there when you say the cafe is been pretty irresponsible by serving these youngsters sheesha. Whether they, the kids, believe it's right or wrong, surely the owners of such establishments should think beyond profit making and put their foot down. Rest assured sheesha is detrimental to ones health and for a developing preteen/teen it can carry lifelong risks.
Personally I always find it commendable to see some restos/companies who think ethically and morally. A good example being Sushi Minto refusing to serve pregnant ladies sushi and sashimi. By doing so they projects the image of a truly respectable venture that thinks beyond their own interests.
