I went there few months back. Ordered Penang Char Kwe Tiau. Wasnt impressed. Noodle was too soft and lumpy.

Price wise is above average... service is ok.

We took a party of six to Sri Kebaya. Most of us had a little trouble finding the place since the website wasn't very specific. We found the food about average, the price a little high and the service very pleasant.

I'm a big fan of Indonesian food and this is as close as you can get in Doha.
Me and my houseband love there currie and rendang.
One tip. If you order a starter ask if you can have time between the starter and the main. Sometimes the bring it all together.

Went to Souq Wafiq to try the Malaysian Food Restaurant.

Food that I tried:

- Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang

- Curry Chicken

- Barley Water

Curry lovers would enjoy the curry chicken that is commonly found in Singapore and Malaysia. The taste of coconut, chilli and herbs makes the curry sauce delicious with plain rice (makes u wanna eat lots and lots of rice!)

Nasi Lemak Rice is cooked just nice, not too much or too little coconut. Taste wonderful with the samba chilli and ikan bilis.

Beef Rendang is also authentic to what you can find in Malaysia, yummy.

Special mention goes to the Barley Water. Refreshing and calms your taste buds after eating the spicy curry. A rare good find in restaurants in Doha.

Easy to find in Souq Waqif by the other restaurants, behind the tailors in the main plaza. When I tried it last October I was not impressed, the food was bland and overpriced. This time I went with two friends, one of whom is Malaysian and an excellent cook herself. We ordered everything PEDAS! Spicy hot! It was and we loved it, the food was better and although service was slow starting overall it is average. Believe there is a new owner so things have picked up. Would recommend it! They do deliveries also.

Comment: It is an OK Malay restaurant, and like in a Malay household, typically all the food are served at the same time.

We took the buffet. Food choice not bad, but the food most of them are in the cold side.

Tried the buffet last week, choices and taste pretty good, but I think they used a lot of MSG coz we got really really thirsty after that, despite having our glassfulls at the restaurant. Drinks not included in the buffet.

Went there almost a month after landed in Qatar mid Sept 09... Had high expectation to finally eat some Malaysian cooked food. Never went there again.

But tried it again last week, it's getting better and better, but still price is a bit high for the portion given.

With QR50 + drinks is not bad. Varieties is more than enough with QR50 for buffet. What to expect in Doha, if you go to Applebees, TGI, Chilly you may end up paying more than QR60 per person on ala carte. Service not bad, interior very nice. Price offered not much different from other Restaurant nearby (Souq Waqif-new name/Iran-old name). cou can try Bandar Restaurant about 4 doors from Sri Kebaya I'm sure it will cost you nearly QR100 per person.

Expensive for the kind of taste they have there. Just like NoodleHouse in City Center, a big disappointment. Hope Sri Kebaya improves a lot so that I will be proud enough to bring non-Malaysians friends to taste Malay, Chinese and Indian food from Malaysia. Malaysia is well known for cheap & good food!

I'm not Malaysian, but I've eaten quite a bit of Malaysian food -that being said, the shrimp sambal dish I ordered was pretty disappointing. There were more shrimp shells on my plate than actual pieces of shrimp. The taste was just...average.More heat and fire than actual flavor. They also served this "stuff" before my entree out, which I guess was supposed to be the Malaysian equivalent of tortilla chips. The "chips" were stale and oily tasting. The only bit of flavor was the occasional peanut.

My waiter was very nice and attentive though, and the decor is pretty. That's all this place has going for it.

Whenever I miss Malaysia, Sri Kebaya REstaurant in SOuq is the only place I crave for Malaysian food. I don't find somewhere else except in Holiday Inn hotel. It is Qatar and I don't really put much expectation in things called 'made in/by Malaysian'. I just feel satisfy with what have to be offer here.
