I loved the fact that there was an actual Japanese Chef running the place. The food was good and the prices were reasonable comparing to the other Japanese places.

Only thing I didn't like was not having a napkin on the table during my lunch time.

My family and I really like this recently opened restaurant and have been there a couple of times so far. The quality of Japanese food is exceptional and the closed rooms are great for private dining. I strongly recommend the sushi, the teriyaki chicken and the Mount Fuji dessert! Also, the friend ince cream dessert. Service is generally friendly.

Unfortunately, they don't do enough to promote the place, and don't have enough special offers to attract new customers. The big draw is the Japanese chef who really his stuff! Strongly recommend a visit!

I am actually shocked to see this Japanese restaurant get 3 1/2 stars out of 5. I am someone who doesn't complain much about the food I eat at restaurants. I'll eat anything. But this place was TERRIBLE!

A friend and I who have both lived in Japan for a number of years often try out different places in town when we hear they have sushi. (Best place so far is Sakura at the Ramada Hotel. It is pricey, the service is slow and the ambiance is not great but the food is soooo good, I find myself going back time and time again.)

When my friend and I arrived at Oishi Sushi, the first thing we noticed was the layout of the restaurant. The ambiance was actually quite pleasant. (We were comparing it to Sakura, our favourite sushi place.) Oishi Sushi has "kaiten zushi" which is the sushi that goes around on plates on a conveyor belt next to your table. So we sat ourselves down and ordered.

First off, the waitress did not repeat our order back to us and got our order wrong, bringing too much sushi to the table. Then the sushi, served on a wooden block, was taken away from the table. The extra sushi was taken off and the block was returned to our table, even though we had already eaten some of it beforehand.

While we waited for our food, we tried a roll of sushi passing by us and it was horrible. The rice was drenched in rice vinegar making it a little soggy.

The sushi that we were served was the same as those going around -- the rice had too much rice vinegar in it. I love "tori karaage" (deep fried chicken) and I literally couldn't eat what they served me. My friend felt exactly the same way and out of all the dishes on our table, the miso soup was the only thing we didn't complain about. It was actually strange to have so many items of ordered food that we didn't like.

Just before we were leaving, we looked next to us and were shocked to see some of our sushi order going around on the dishes on the conveyor belt! (We know this because the rolls were specialty rolls and not the usual ones circulating.)

I have to say that we were recommended this restaurant by other friends and perhaps our Japan experience has tainted us. But I tell you now, if you have been to Japan and are a sushi connaisseur, you'll want to avoid this restaurant at all costs.

I go to Royal Plaza often. the place seems always empty. I tired their Sushi. it was good... but a bit expensive for the quantity. They told me about a buffet they had. For the price they quoted, Sashimi is not included!! Actually, they said you have to eat a number of sushi plates (I think 6) for you to get a Sashimi plate!?

Best place to have good food.

I don't get all the complaints. If you don't like to food, write a little note to the restaurant, let them improve. All the [Mod Removed]ing won't get you anywhere.

Peace.

I tried one more time tonight. It is a bit expensive. But the place was occupied... maybe this happens in weekends. I ordered a couple of dishes and some Temakis.. the portions were a bit small compared to other Japanese restaurants I have visited with a similar price range

the best sushi place i have ever been to.
great service, very personal and warm.
great sushi, i am crazy about the spicy shake maki, shake sushi and salamon sashimi.
the buffet on mondays and tuesdays is great for those who would like to try something out.
if you go for the buffet, in a group of 4 or more, you get complementary "oishi blossoms" for everyone.
i bring all my friends to the place, and they are all addicted ,just like me by now :)

hay carla, haaaaay rim :) thanks for the beautiful time i spend in your restaurant guys

One of my super likes in Doha! If you miss oriental food, especially your sushi and maki, there's no Japanese Resto here who's better than Oishi.. Truly Oishi :)
